After graduating from University of Melbourne, she did postings in general medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine, oncology, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and polyclinic in the public sector.
Subsequently, she obtained graduate diploma in family medicine, as well as graduate diploma in family practice dermatology. During her general practice, she realised that many people with sports injury, chronic back pain, elderly with arthritis, post zoster pain were treating their chronic pain with painkillers without treating the root cause of the problem that causes their pain.
Eventually, Dr decided to undertake further training to treat pain in order to serve patients with pain and injuries better. She undertook a course in graduate diploma in sports medicine from LKC school of medicine to have a deeper understanding of injury and pain. Realising the need to further her knowledge, she trained herself further in musculoskeletal ultrasound with global musculoskeletal ultrasound, Singapore Institute of Technology to develop bedside diagnostic skills, CGH sports and ultrasound guided injection skills.
To treat chronic pain, she took courses and completed her Masterclass in Lyftgot Perineural Injection treatment which target peripheral nerve pain due to entrapment or injured nerve from other mechanism. She has treated conditions such as back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, elbow pain, wrist/hand pain, Morton’s neuroma, foot and ankle pain, migraines, cervicogenic headache, post zoster neuralgia, complex regional pain syndrome post-surgery and found symptomatic improvement. She is currently undergoing Musculoskeletal course in Australia, to treat problems due to ligament laxity and tendon tears with prolotherapy aiming to harness the body’s own healing ability. Conditions that are suitable for trial of prolotherapy include knee and hip osteoarthritis, sacroiliac joint instability (lower back pain, and/or with referral pain to back of thigh), ankle instability, rotator cuff (shoulder pain) etc.
In addition to her interest in bringing back a pain-free or more manageable pain experience for patients, her clinical interests also includes treating dermatology conditions such as childhood / adulthood eczema, acne and other skin conditions.
Dr. currently accepts pain management cases by appointment only.
